Everything you need to know about Sigma Alumni Foundation, our campaign, and how to get involved.
About the Foundation
The Sigma Alumni Foundation, Inc. (SAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by engineering alumni at The Ohio State University. SAF's mission is to advance education for OSU engineering students by providing alumni-powered housing, mentorship programs, and career pathway opportunities. SAF has been celebrating over 100 years of supporting engineering fraternities at Ohio State.
The Sigma Alumni Society (SAS) is a separate 501(c)(7) social organization that manages alumni activities and events outside of charitable operations. While SAF focuses on charitable giving — housing, scholarships, mentorship, and education — SAS handles alumni social events, networking, and community-building. They are distinct legal entities that work together to serve the broader Sigma alumni community at Ohio State.
SAF's programs are designed to benefit engineering students at The Ohio State University, with a particular focus on students connected to the Theta Tau Sigma Chapter. Our housing, mentorship, and career pathway programs support students throughout their undergraduate engineering education.
We're always interested in connecting with engaged alumni who want to give back. If you're interested in volunteering, serving on the board, or contributing your expertise to SAF, please reach out via our contact page. We'd love to hear from you.
The House Campaign
SAF is conducting a major fundraising campaign to acquire the Theta Tau Sigma Chapter house located at 1946 Indianola Ave, Columbus, OH. The goal is to raise $200,000–$300,000 for a conventional down payment on the property. Remaining costs will be financed through rental income from residents plus ongoing alumni donations. The campaign runs through November 2026 (an 18–24 month window).
Owning the chapter house gives engineering students a permanent, stable home near campus — one that isn't subject to the whims of private landlords or the Columbus rental market. Ownership means we can control the environment, keep costs affordable for students, and ensure the house continues to serve its mission for decades to come. It's an investment in the long-term stability of the program.
If the fundraising goal of $200,000–$300,000 is not reached within the campaign period, all donated funds will remain within the nonprofit and be redirected toward scholarships and professional development programs for OSU engineering students. Your gift will always benefit engineering students — regardless of whether the house acquisition moves forward.
